Pricing

The sticky business of business

This is awkward because it’s your money and I want some of it, which seems to make us adversaries—but we’re not. We’re partners—and working together will make great things happen! The beauty is that we both want exactly the same thing: you want to pay a reasonable price for an extraordinary product, and I want to earn a reasonable wage for an extraordinary product. (Actually, you want an extraordinary product for nothing, and I’d like to be paid to do nothing, but we both know that business model doesn’t work.)

The Bottom Line

All pricing for photography and design work is negotiated on a per-client, per-job basis, and the initial consultation is free. There is just too much complexity and there are too many variables to publish prices—for instance, a simple product shot for eBay may cost X dollars, while a complex product image for a catalog cover may cost ten times that. And design projects also have a wide range of costs: I’ve designed books for under $1,000, and others for over $50,000.

A simple pack shot. Easy to set up, light, shoot, and process. Straighforward and inexpensive.

Flashlight-knife-thingy. Complex from setup to final edit. A composite of 30 images. Pricey.

Here’s my promise and my guarantee: my prices will be fair and competitive for the work you need, and you will be completely satisfied with the value of the product you receive. For editorial clients, I am happy to work with your day or space rates.
